Rooibos…so much more than a funny name!

Pronounced (ROY-BOSS), Many people have heard of Red Rooibos (easily translated to “red bush”), the delicious caffeine-free plant grown in South Africa; But many of you may not know how amazing it is for your body and how easily it can be added to different tea blends!

Here Are Our Top 3 Reasons Why We Can't Get Enough Of Rooibos Tea :

1. Cure-All Beverage:

Rooibos has been used as a cure for chronic headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, bone weakness, hypertension, allergies, and premature aging, just to name a few. It has no oxalic acid and is rich in mineral contents such as iron, calcium, potassium, and zinc. Red Rooibos also contains antioxidants like aspalathin and nothofagin, and the extremely potent and versatile phenolic compounds that will keep your immune system in check!

2. Caffeine Free Alternative:

Rooibos is absolutely free from caffeine and is low in tannins, which allows you to enjoy this beverage all day long with no possible side effects… like the dreaded 2 pm caffeine crash. Rooibos has also been known to have immune system boosting properties which is perfect for the Fall/Winter season that is upon us…*sigh. At least this hot cuppa will keep you warm all season long!

3. It's Like Therapy (or thera-tea?) in a Cup:

Rooibos tea lowers the body’s production of cortisol – the “stress hormone.” Lowering cortisol levels, in turn lowers the effect of the body’s stress response.

It’s been discovered that rooibos contains two rare flavonoids – aspalathin and nothofagin – that are effective in lowering cortisol production, thus helping reduce stress in the body. These flavonoids are so rare that, in nature, aspalathin has only been found in the rooibos plant.

The benefits of lower cortisol production, along with the lack of caffeine and high mineral content in rooibos also make it an excellent natural sleep aid.
